Beastie and Lara's First 4WD Adventure

Lara, today you went on your first 4WD adventure.  It started in a bit of a shamozzle as your new car seat kept wobbling.  It just didn't fit the old bench seat in Beastie.  After much fiddling around, we took your capsule out of Lottie and it fit perfectly so in you went.  This wasn't so great, because unless you are asleep, you are not too keen on your capsule!  Ah well.
You slept for the trip out to Fernvale and woke happy as a lark once we got to the bakery where we all settled down for some yummy breakfast pies.  It was not a sunny day but the clouds made it glary and you weren't too keen on that.  That was easily fixed however when Mummy gave you her sunnies.  You thought they were terrific.
Once Dan and Nadia and the girls arrived, we loaded up and headed off to the property we were 4WDing on.  We weren't too sure what level of 4WDing to expect but as it turned out, it was pretty easy - which is lucky considering it was both yours and Beastie's first day out!  We had a couple of water crossings which are always fun, then up and down the ridgelines we went in our conga line of 4WDs, stopping every now and then to admire the view and find the fenceline at which we were supposed to be dropping off star pickets and barbed wire.  You slept through the whole thing!
On top of one ridgeline, with a spectacular view of Wivenhoe, we stopped for lunch.  You and Jaime had lunch too, which is really why we chose to stay in that spot to eat ours!  Everyone got out their pies they had bought that morning (ours was berry - yum!).
We finished up the day around 4.30pm and started to head home.  You woke up in Fernvale when the road was smoother and the speed dropped to 60km/h - you don't like it when that happens so you started crying, then screaming, and continued all the way home - even though we changed your nappy, gave you a feed, and I climbed in the back to keep you entertained.  Of course, you fell asleep two minutes away from home, so we had to wake you to get you out of the car!!  A big day!

Winter Wonderland

The Brisbane Winter Festival was on again!  Alan and I had so much fun open air ice skating in King George Square last year that we were determined to go again.  As neither of us are proficient enough to safely wear Lara while skating, we decided to take turns in skating and looking after bubs.  This worked out well as the rink is pretty small and it does get a bit monotonous skating round and round for 45 mins!  We both had a ball, neither one of us fell over (although how Alan managed not to, I'll never know!) and pizza and wine afterwards topped off the night.

It's a Draw

Australia v Japan!  World Cup Qualifier.  Adrian, Janet, Alan, Lara and I headed to Suncorp Stadium to watch a pretty scrappy game of international soccer!  Still had a ball, including the bad food (mmm hot dogs).  The crowd was great, although Lara wasn't too sure about all the noise whenever Australia had a corner!  Lucky she slept through the first half!

A Rainy Day

The last Queen's birthday to be held in June was a cold and rainy one - a perfect day for bushwalking!  Alan, Lara and I found ourselves tramping in the mud through the National Parks around Mt Tamborine.  Lara slept snugly through all the walks and joined us for scones and coffee at morning tea and wood-fired pizza for lunch - a perfect way to warm up and dry out!

Bonfires, Birthdays and More

When Lara was 6 weeks old, we headed out to Toogoolawah for a weekend of bonfires, birthdays and more.  A big group of friends indulged in great curries, fine wines and a massive fry up for the morning interspersed with the boys playing on tractors, shooting targets, chopping down trees and building one enormous bonfire!
